Position Summary:UAF Facilities Services Division of Utilities is offering a hands-on employment opportunity for students enrolled in the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College (CTC) Welding Program and Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics Programs. Maintenance Students assist Facilities Services - Division of Utilities' Maintenance personnel within the UAF Power Plant with various duties as assigned, while gaining hands-on experience. The position is generally part-time during the academic year (Fall & Spring Semesters) and full-time during the Summer Semester.


The power plant team is a hard-working team that ensures the campus community has the lights and power required to run the institution. Utilities Maintenance Students provide hands-on maintenance support. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a challenge and wants to expand their skills.

Ability to follow instructions, work with dependability, work in high-pressure situations, work cooperatively with others and work with accuracy.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Must be enrolled in CTC Welding Program or CTC Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics Programs

Must maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA)

Starting Salary Student C at $10.50/hr DOE
